We are thrilled to invite you to the opening night of Blueprint, a collaborative exhibition between UNKWNZJ and Muse & Museums. BLUEPRINT will run from March 2, 2024, until March 31, 2024, at The Lost & Found TO.
Who gets to be "beautiful"?
BLUEPRINT presents both past and present works that are a vibrant celebration of Black culture. UNKWNZJ aims to challenge the status quo and question modern beauty standards. She does this with a unique approach to mixed media and digital art that results in diverse and exciting works of art.
Zandra "UNKWNZJ" Jack is a Toronto-based mixed-media/digital artist and designer who goes by the name UNKWKNZJ. With a passion for altering geometric and curvilinear forms, Zandra's artwork is an explosion of dynamic emotion. Her pieces feature enlarged and emphasized features as a play on the stereotypical larger-than-life depiction of Black features, resulting in a vibrant celebration of Black culture.
As an artist, UNKWNZJ is constantly evolving and pushing herself to new heights. Her innovative approach to mixed media and digital art is a testament to her talent and dedication. Art is a form of therapy and meditation for her, and she enjoys getting lost in the process. Her rejection of traditional standards, composition, and design results in a diverse and exciting body of work.
Curated by Funmi Ajala and Shadio Hussein of Muse & Museums.
A big thank you to Zandra "UNKWNZJ" Black for collaborating with us for her first presentation of work in Toronto.
We give our deep gratitude to Nurielle Stern of The Lost & Found TO for her guidance, patience and help while preparing for this exhibition, as well as acknowledge and give warm appreciation to Suzanne Carte and Jasmine Mander from the Art Gallery Burlington for being our recommenders for the Exhibition Assistance grant of the Ontario Arts Council.
