Introduction to Indigenous Beadwork with Katie Longboat

Muse & Museums is thrilled to present art activations rooted in community-building, culture, and curiosity. Join us for a beginner-friendly beading workshop led by Toronto-based Indigenous bead artist Katie Longboat. In this hands-on session, participants will explore the rich history of Indigenous beadwork, learn essential tools and techniques, and create a small beaded medallion to take home.

Spaces are limited, register today to secure your spot. No prior experience is necessary, and all supplies are provided.

About the Artist:

Katie Longboat is a Cree and Mohawk beadwork artist from Six Nations of the Grand River. Her beadwork incorporates floral designs, contemporary materials and bold colours to create unique jewelry pieces and beaded artwork. Katie is inspired to create work that is reflective of her family and background, the natural world, and draws inspiration from both Cree and Mohawk styles of beadwork. Katie currently resides in Toronto, Ontario.
